I've mentioned before that I don't work the usual Monday to Friday, and my weekend runs from 3pm Saturday through until... right about now! It's Tuesday morning, I'm sat at my dining table, in my unattractive leopard print onesie, drinking a big mug of tea in my Scrabble H mug. I've brushed my teeth and kissed Gem good morning; the sun is shining already and I can see blue sky from where I'm sitting.
And I've got approximately 24 minutes before I crack on with my working day. Get ready, out the door, drive the ten minutes to our cafe and get on with what we do...
So for those next 24 (probably 23 minutes now) let me blast a little about my weekend.
It's been a house centric weekend, mixed up with a few errands out the house, as well as breakfast on Sunday at Cafe on the Corner in Knutsford, and dinner out with my dad at our ever favourite The Three Greyhounds. To many, it could be seen as a tad dull. It was a tad dull, and I felt I was waiting about a bit, but those facts forced me to do a few little bits I've been meaning to do for ages.
So in no particular order here goes:
Over the course of the weekend I have finally framed two beautiful prints I've been given; one a drawing of Gemma and I, given to me by an artist friend for my 30th, the other a print of a sugar bowl, given to me by my artist auntie as a wedding gift (there's some very specific meanings behind the sugar bowl print being wedding related believe it or not!)
I've been handy with a glue gun and finally stuck down all 150 plus wedding guest lolly pop figures that were drawn during our wedding breakfast and got them all looking out of two big display frames.
I've updated my giant world map scratch map AND HUNG IT!
I've also finished up a canvas I have upcycled myself, a fun quote print, using up an old canvas I no longer liked, some white satinwood that was in the shed, and some matte wall paint leftover from the spare room. It's scruffy round the edges but I love it, and I have finally tidied it up AND HUNG IT!
I've got rid of some piles of paperwork files that are no longer relevant, and updated our box files. And also found a load of random wedding paper work that are definitely no longer required.
Also, a few random drawers have been sorted to within an inch of their drawer lives and the first aid box has been thoroughly cleansed.
And lastly, and this was the most dull (so dull I can't believe I'm typing it out), but probably long term the most satisfying, my dad fitted us a new boiler programmer, and kindly left me the user guide to work out how to make it all work and talk to each other... and so far, I think I've bloody done it! We live in an old house, with plenty of foibles, and the erratic lack of heating, or random heating coming on was driving us nuts... now, hopefully, it should be on or off, as we set, without having to go outside to the outhouse to change it - thank you dad!
More fun errands were planning some meals for this week and going to Tesco, and popping to a local garden centre for a coffee and a mooch about their shop.
Productive ... yes!
Looking at the artwork I had around the house now on walls is hugely satisfying, as is the knowledge that I know how to make our house warm!
Hope your weekends were fun, or at least productive, or both!
