Last Sunday was my niece's christening, and a huge load of family and friends congregated in the church where myself, my brother and also lots of my cousins got christened, in my hometown of Llangollen in North Wales.
I became Evelyn's godmother in what was a truly beautiful occasion, to celebrate the little life she's led so far and her life to follow onwards.
It was an occasion to dress up, to be bright and to be bold. So despite my almost *fear* of wearing yellow, I really went with for it.
The yellow choice came about secondly to my big striped skirt which was a gift from Gemma for our second wedding anniversary; second being cotton and all that! The stripes are a deep blue and ivory, so didn't lend themselves to anything monochrome on top, and I felt something bright was the way to go. However, I don't really own anything bright that isn't just beachwear. Hence how I became the proud new owner of this canary bright top with RUFFLES!
Is it daft I was nervous to wear such a bright colour?
But did I enjoy being able to be spotted a mile off in that church and at that party later... hmm, yes!
So, what have I learnt from this? I don't always need to gravitate towards my ever favourite black! And sometimes, going bold feels REALLY good!
