There is a definite clothing formula I have been enjoying over the last few months. And that simple easy combo is STRIPES AND PLEATS... and make the pleats on the longer side of midi length and I'm happy as!
I think I started wearing with this now favoured combo of mine last summer, and have dabbled with it more and more this year. It's more the silhouette specifically that can be played round with, and I've found that so long as the top is tucked in, and the midi is zip or button waisted I'm set... (I am NOT a girl who can wear an elasticated waist skirt without ruining a very aspirational hour-glass shape I wish to show off!)
I'm partial to a plain black top in place of the stripes sometimes, or bold block colours also, and I also like to switch up the pleats for a fuller, flouncier midi skirt. But the striped top and midi pleats combo are what really do it for me sometimes, to channel some super casual but smart feels!
This very simple outfit pictured above has been worn repeatedly over the last four months. Easy, wearable, and suitable to most of my out-of-work activities, which are generally playing tourist somewhere, going our for any meal of the day, or running errands.
Blue, white and black.
Stripes, boat neck, midi sleeves, midi pleats.
