Gem shared this photo on her facebook today, with the caption, "there's worse ways to spend a Monday morning" and I couldn't help but want to share that here and echo said statement.
This morning, on our second, but final morning in Jersey, during our less than 48 hour trip on the island, I sat in a big fluffy dressing gown, drinking a cup of coffee, on the GLORIOUS balcony that was part of our room! And damn right, there are much, much worse ways to start your week!
Excuse the bare face, the grainy photo quality, and the little scruffy socks I'm wearing on my hands that I sleep in; instead focus on the relaxed, radiant smile and stunning balcony.
I'm home now, after a great, whistle-stop trip to Jersey. I feel revived, despite such a rapid, full, fast trip, because being away, and seeing new sights, with a group of fun ladies, laughing, eating and drinking in gorgeous surroundings, and luxuriating in an awesome hotel, makes my happiness radar go through the roof!
I'm not always a fan of such short lived trips, they sometimes make me feel flat for having to come home sooner than I'm ready, or they are more tiring in the journey than the worth of the time there... but this trip didn't make me feel like that! Packing very light, not trying to do/expect to do too much in the time we had there, and just going with the flow I think all played their part in adding to that feeling.
And because of that, this trip has made me think differently; I'm not going to discount such small trips in the future, if those amounts of time available are all that are possible!
So here's to always loving slow travel the most, but remembering, that at a push, if time constraints are an issue, but a bit of travel is needed, a short, fast, fun trip will still always make me smile in the best way...
